1. A transfer case comprising: a first output shaft;
a second output shaft;
a clutch assembly disposed at the second output shaft, the clutch assembly including inner and outer drum members, the outer drum member having an open end and a partially closed end, the inner drum member coupled with the second output shaft and the outer drum member rotatable in association with rotation of the first output shaft, the clutch assembly further including a plurality of frictional clutch plates, the frictional clutch plates having at least one frictional clutch plate coupled with the inner drum member and at least one frictional clutch plate coupled with the outer drum member;
an actuator shaft rotatably coupled with an electric actuator, the actuator shaft disposed in parallel relation with the second output shaft; and
a pivot lever, a first end of the pivot lever coupled with the actuator shaft for pivotally moving the pivot lever in association with rotation the actuator shaft, a second end of the pivot lever configured to apply axial force to the frictional clutch plates to transmit a drive torque of the first output shaft to the second output shaft,
wherein the transfer case further comprises a thrust bearing of annular shape which is slidably placed between the second end of the pivot lever and the clutch assembly, the thrust bearing having a central opening to which the second output shaft is received, wherein the second end of the pivot lever is bifurcated for pressing two diametrically opposite portions of the thrust bearing,
wherein the pivot lever and the connection between the pivot lever and the actuator shaft are configured to magnify a drive torque of the actuator and press the thrust bearing with magnified axial force, wherein the clutch assembly further includes a pressure plate disposed at a lateral side of the frictional clutch plates, a snap member affixed to the open end of the outer drum member, and a plurality of clutch levers placed between the snap member and the pressure plate, an inner portion of each clutch lever configured to abut the thrust bearing and an outer portion of each clutch lever configured to abut the snap member, each clutch lever having a bent contact portion at an outer location of the clutch lever with the bent contact portion generally abutting the outer surface of the pressure plate such that said axial force of the pivot lever for applying the frictional clutch plates is further magnified by lever action of the clutch levers.

1. A constant velocity joint for a drive system having a first rotating shaft and a second rotating shaft coupled with the constant velocity joint, the constant velocity joint comprising:
a hollow housing having a plurality of guide grooves therein, the guide grooves extending in an axial direction of the housing and spaced equally apart in a circumferential direction of the housing;
a tripod having a plurality of trunnions, each trunnion positioned in a corresponding one of the guide grooves of the hollow housing; and
a roller assembly including an inner roller, the inner roller having a spherical inner face for receiving a corresponding one of the trunnions therein, and an outer roller mounted on an outer face of each inner roller, the roller assembly for transmitting a load between the first and second rotating shafts to drive the driving system;
wherein each trunnion includes two opposing spherical contact surfaces disposed in the directions subject to the load, and two opposing side surfaces disposed between the two opposing spherical contact surfaces and in the directions perpendicular to the spherical surfaces and not subjecting to the load;
wherein a first cross sectional shape of the trunnion, the first cross section taken at an upper portion of the trunnion and in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the trunnion, has a thickness larger than a maximum non-interfering thickness of the trunnion at a first lateral side, and the thickness is gradually decreased until it reaches a thickness the same as or 0-30% smaller than the maximum non-interfering thickness of the trunnion at a second lateral side opposite to the first lateral side of the trunnion, the maximum non-interfering thickness measured with the inner roller inclined by a predetermined degree relative to the longitudinal axis of the trunnion to assemble the trunnion into the inner roller without interference;
wherein a second cross sectional shape of the trunnion, the second cross section taken at a lower portion of the trunnion and in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the trunnion, has a thickness the same as or 0-30% smaller than the maximum non-interfering thickness of the trunnion at the first lateral side of the trunnion, and the thickness is gradually increased until it reaches a thickness larger than the maximum non-interfering thickness of the trunnion at the second lateral side of the trunnion; wherein cross-sectional shapes in-between the upper and lower portions are gradually varied from the cross-sectional shape at the upper portion to the cross-sectional shape at the lower portion of the trunnion.

A constant velocity joint for a drive system comprising: an outer joint member having a plurality of inwardly facing outer ball grooves, the outer ball grooves consisting of a first group of grooves, each groove of which having a skewed groove shape with a skew angle (.delta.1) other than zero and alternately arranged in opposite directions relative to an axis of rotation of outer joint member, and a second group of grooves, each groove of which having a continuously curved groove shape; an inner joint member disposed inside the outer joint member and having a plurality of outwardly facing inner ball grooves consisting of a first group of grooves, each groove of which having a skewed groove shape with the skew angle (.delta.1) other than zero and alternately arranged in opposite directions relative to an axis of rotation of inner joint member, and a second group of grooves, each groove of which having a continuously curved groove shape, each inner ball groove of the inner joint member being coupled with a corresponding outer ball groove of the outer joint member generally in crossed pair; a plurality of torque transfer balls which are guided by the ball groove faces of outer and inner joint member; and a cage having circumferentially displaced windows to accommodate the balls therein, wherein the continuously curved groove shape of the second group of grooves of the outer and inner joint members has a skew angle (.delta.2) other than zero at the center of the groove, said skew angle (.delta.2) being the same as or less than said skew angle (.delta.1) of the first group of grooves of the outer and inner joint members.
